"Take a Chance on Art"

Creativity is a circular notion. One creates something - be it a child, art, ideas, or architecture - then releases it. In the release, the creation becomes inspiration for new creation and the circle becomes a cycle.

As artists, Poe and Sam are looking for new ways to define the circle - to experiment with ways that people and ideas are incorporated into the act of creation. In an effort to explore the intersections between gratification in the creative process, the fulfillment in releasing their work into the world, and the desire to expand access to art while acknowledging the need for commerce, they are launching "Take a Chance on Art".

Each month, for the next six months, a piece of Sam's or Poe's work will be selected and displayed. For $20 a ticket, a person may purchase as many chances as they wish to win this work of art. A random drawing will be held on the second Saturday of each month during the Bisbee After Five event. Each month brings a new piece of work and a new chance to win.

In the end, someone owns a piece of art, the artist experiences the fulfillment of a completed circle, and everyone enjoys the excitement of risk and hope.

To see the work that will kick off this grand experiment, come to SamPoe Gallery at 24 Main Street in Bisbee. Or, you may purchase tickets over the phone at 520-432-5338 or in person at the gallery. The first drawing will be November 14th at 8:00 p.m.

How fun is that?

1st "Take a Chance on Art" Drawing on November 14th is Poe Dismuke Clock

This clock is made from a rare English book about the Kings and Queens of England. These wonderful illustrations are reproduced and assembled in a puzzle-like way using archival materials.
"Each clock has a unique composition guided by aesthetics and intuition - my intuition." Poe
